Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

This blog will attempt to reach both those who have experienced Christian bands and artists and those who have not had the opportunity. I want to bring people the full spectrum of music from artists you may or may not of heard of. Even if you listen to some of the popular Christian music stations (like 95.9 The Fish in So. Cal) - you may find some music here that will surprise you (in a good way) and I will of course include the more popular offerings as well.

Awake and alive

I'm at war with the world and they try to pull me into the dark...
That's the opening lyrics from the Song "Awake and Alive" by Skillet.

From Wikipedia: Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. The band currently consists of husband and wife John (lead vocals, bass) and Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), along with Jen Ledger (drums, vocals) and Seth Morrison (lead guitar).

When asked about the meaning of the song by Sterotruth.net, John Cooper (the lead singer of the band) had the following to say: "Tying in with “Hero,” here’s one about feeling like you’re falling under from all the stresses of life. Even though you feel like everyone around you is trying to take your hope away from you, no one has the right to do that and you shouldn’t allow those negative influences to weigh you down. Live what you believe and don’t be afraid to stand up for your faith."
